林白水怎么死的

上次转贴了一个对邵飘萍有微词的帖子。今天看马叙伦石屋续瀋，有这么一段：
林白水，福建人，清末，落拓至杭州，后游日本，建国后，至北京，办社会日报。初尚能言；袁世凯月与银三千元收之，白水服食以奢，尝坦然语人曰：“吾为金人矣”。以月入三千元缄其口也。至是，复萌故态，其笔亦刻厉，因遭害。
马氏为同盟会会员，历任北大教授、浙江教育厅长、教育部次长（后代总长），以其身份，所讲掌故固可信。即就吾人阅世经验可知，待价而沽如林氏者，实繁有徒，其竟获为言论自由而死之殊荣，是非淆乱至此，岂不大谬。
