高级马桶

尚秉和《历代社会风俗事物考》引《周礼·天官·宫人》：“掌王六寝之修，为其井匽，除其不蠲，去其恶臭”；郑玄注引郑司农云：“匽、路厕也”。尚云：“可证古时路上皆有官厕，与今正同”。
于此可知，古代的公共厕所叫做“匽”。
昨读曾国藩日记，记其行军至江西浮梁，涂遇一种公厕，“最可骇异”：
“大便粪桶高至五尺，人皆以梯登厕，上盖瓦屋。街市道旁处处有之，鳞次栉比，令人难耐”。
若望文生义，则此方可谓“高级（须以梯登）马桶”，而今日富贵之家以黄金造马桶，尚不足与言“高级”也。
不知赣籍网友能为详述此“粪桶”之形制沿革否？呵呵。
