干禄新书

干禄，就是吃公家饭，有关干禄的书，相当于今日的干部必读。俗语云：字是打门锤；颜真卿的伯父颜元孙就作了一部《干禄字书》，将每个字的写法分为通、俗、正三体，告诫有志于官者多写正体，不要因字体犯错而砸了公家的铁饭碗。孔乙己自诩知道茴字的四种写法，但不一定知道那种是正体，故此吃不上公家的饭，潦倒一生。
曹振镛死后谥为文正，生前却是个“字正公”。他在高考中极力推行“齐整无破体”的书法，要求考生写字严格遵照以董其昌、赵孟頫二家为基础的馆阁体，不问文章写的如何，但看字体入不入格。这种阅卷套路，与他建议旻宁看奏摺的方法一脉相承。他又兼任翰林院掌院学士，进士们想进翰林院，更须苦练阁体，不然万万过不了“字正公”这一关。
说来奇怪，书法这件事，并非熟能生巧。书法发烧友康有为练字五十多年，名碑名帖，揣摩殆尽，却终于只写得出一手“俗”字，不得不慨叹：“吾眼有神，吾腕有鬼”。在他之前，另有一个腕中有鬼的倒霉蛋，却因死活练不出阁体俗字，终身对着翰林院望门兴叹。这个人，就是龚自珍。
论才，论学，论见识，龚自珍都有资格进翰林院，可是，院长曹字正公偏不关心才学识，只问你小楷写得好不好。没办法，龚自珍只好在部曹一级耗费了半生的光阴。人一憋闷，总得找个出气的办法，明着斗怎么也斗不过当朝一品，那就想个办法恶心他。文人手中之笔，未尝不可作投枪、匕首，龚自珍深明此理，乃运笔如刀，模仿颜氏《干禄字书》，写了一本《干禄新书》。
《新书》也讲写字，且专讲如何写一手翰林必备的“俗”字，且可当作教材用来培养“准翰林”。《新书》写就，龚自珍便命令家中妇女，其女、其媳、其妾、其婢，全要对着教材练习馆阁体。功夫不负有心人，经过一段时间的练习，龚家女子竟人人写得一手翰林字。于是，只要听到谁说某翰林如何如何，龚自珍便一脸不屑：翰林有什么了不起？我家内室个个都是翰林！翰林？哼！
人才进退，仅系于一纸书法，“伊家国运如何”（龚自珍语）？
