答：我并未对他作过专门研究，不敢妄言感动。谨引用他在《玩〈易〉》中的一段话：“当你领导人们走在你看见是进步的路时，你们也许已走入了退步的路；当你领导着人们走在你看见是兴邦的路时，你们也许已走入了亡国的路。只看见一个政治主张之进步的方面，而不看见它退步的方面，只看见它可以兴邦的方面，而看不见它可以亡国的方面——这便叫做‘亢’。……反省啊！中国人，别尽管兴高采烈的种罂粟、收特税、借洋债、砍脑袋！你们必得反省：为什么有些于信仰者个人自身绝对无利而能有大害的学说和主张，而他们非信仰不可？为什么有些于活动者个人自身绝对无大利而能有大害的活动，而他们非做不可？这类人是否杀得尽禁得绝的？把这一类人杀尽了，禁绝了，国家又将成个什么样子？”说这话的背景是国民党政府在大陆实行“白色恐怖”疯狂镇压共产党人的时候。张荫麟不是共产党同情者，他是所谓费边主义者，固应支持资产阶级政党统治，反对任何有颠覆政权意味的革命，然而，作为史学家他对治乱兴衰有着深刻的认识，作为哲学家他对因果倚伏有着洞彻的判断，作为人道主义者他本能厌恶权力对自由的侵害，于是，他写下这段话。他是伟大的史学家，我是史学爱好者，每当念诵这段话，我就感动不已。
